In 2002, the Black Alumni Network (BAN) was founded by Alicia Gilmore Catching and Kevin McFall, Founding President. BAN is administered by an intergenerational set of volunteer alumni that comprise a board of directors from varied academic and professional backgrounds. In 2005, with the assistance and advocacy of Barbara S. Hundley, BAN along with another alumni group - the Marching Illini-- became the first two affiliates of the University of Illinois Alumni Association (UIAA). BAN provides comprehensive programming to foster social, educational, professional and service-oriented engagement opportunities for alumni, students, faculty and staff of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which nurtures the relationships between all of these constituencies, the university, and the greater university community. | Alicia Gilmore-Catching | Kevin McFall |
